How to Get My Employee to be at their Natural best?

Updated: Apr 13, 2020

We generally get this asked A LOT when we are networking events or just on a phone call a - How do I make sure my employees work their best and contribute to profits better? Don't you think it's time the events industry levels up and figures out what the employees are really thinking instead of making them work 20+ hours and expecting them to show up everywhere? Let's dive in.

In this, we will figure out Employee mindset first and then solutions to work cultures; so that we get both the CEO's and the Employees perspective on this.

I would like to bring your attention to the term work culture. What does this mean? Do you have a culture? How does this affect productivity?

Work culture is probably the only thing the Industry doesn't take seriously. Almost all companies rely on past experiences and these 'pioneer event manager way' of work style but here's what really goes in:

1. Change in perspective

2. Extending your circle of safety

3. To observe toxic patterns

You don't play to win. It is not about who is right/wrong or winning/losing. The top players in the business markets succeed because their mindset is fixed on outlasting their competition rather than winning. That is the change in perspective that is going to make you last longer.

Great leaders extend their circle of safety. Making sure your employees don't worry about who stole the credit for who's work and layoffs you are showing them that you don't have their back. Invest your energy not on clients or creativity and on making your employees feel safe and then see how the work culture builds.

Your number one employee since the past 5 years can turn out to be a vampire in the business- someone who sucks the energy out of the other employees. Internally a lot of things start going wrong even if you employ the best team ever. What message are you giving your employees and clients by keeping them?

Bonuses and promotions don't always fill the gap in the system.

A sign of a good Leader is to fill those gaps through Empathy.Your employees come into your company to feel like they belong, to be around people who believe what they believe so that they feel safe. Your decision as a leader will set it right for them.

It's time to reflect and think back on these three changes that will affect your company and how much effort you want to really put into making your company better.
